Founded in 2016 by Mauro Simionato, Vitelli has aimed to represent the Italian youth culture through contemporary knitwear design, strongly focused on the collaboration with Veneto independent laboratories and sustainable production processes. Drawing from the original 1980s Italian “Gioventù Cosmica” aesthetic, referencing music and style as a source for cultural innovation and social improvement, Vitelli takes part and commits to global counter-culture with a non-gender, post- hippie storytelling from Milan-based “Spazio Vitelli” studio where collections are created and performative events take place each season.
Vitelli’s 8th “Gioventù Cosmica” collection feels like a surreal journey down to the abyss of the sea only to re-emerge invigorated and refreshed.
Expressed through Italian craftsmanship, the brand celebrates collectivism and inclusivity that spans between art and a new vision for a responsible future.
Inspired by the architectural work of Lina Bo Bardi, the music of Don Cherry’s experimental group Codona and Moki Cherry’s accompanying artworks, and the Italian radical counter- culture movements of the late ‘70s, the 24 looks are the result of a joint effort between the brand and this season’s partners including Lagos-based brand Bloke, Venice-based fine shoes manufacturer Marsèll and Milan-based active-punk collective Rayon Vert. Additionally, Vitelli commissioned London-based Cremate to produce a special incense line.
